The Surrender Novena is a wonderful way to give everything to The Father, do nothing on our own, and let him take care of everything.
The only way out of self-reliance and self-condemnation is surrender. Sometimes, people think it is irresponsible to surrender to God. We feel like we are not responsible if we do that. The truth, however, is that the most responsible act that we can do is surrender everything to God.
Jesus says very clearly: “Without me, you can do nothing (John 15:5).” I think it is important to let that sink in. “Without him… we can do NOTHING!”
I can do nothing on my own. This is a freeing and true statement. It is humility in the face of pride. Jesus humbled himself and depended completely on His Father.
The Father desires that we completely surrender everything to him and when we do we will experience complete peace. When we do this we let go of fretting, worrying, controlling, grasping and manipulating our lives. When we find ourselves upset, worried, anxious, frustrated, angry, agitated, and beginning to despair, this is a good sign that we need to surrender everything to our Father.
When we surrender He will carry us in His arms.
If you pray this Novena and surrender everything in your life to God, Jesus promises: “I perform miracles in proportion to your full surrender to me and to your not thinking of yourselves.”
